Jesus Camp

A month or so ago, a colleague at work shared a website with me to view a movie trailer for "Jesus Camp". Today it was on the AOL main page... if you haven't seen it, take a look. This is happening to our children...today... in the middle of the heartland. Children, taught to hate Harry Potter because he's an evil warlock ~ yet to pray for a life size cut out of Dubya!

Brain washing at it's very best... Most frightening!
Be afraid.

Excuse me, I think I'm going to be sick.

BTW: Look out Alan, it's happening in your own back yard!

Ouch...

Last night Hubby and I were driving home after dinner with friends, chatting as we drove... a quick stop at the store for lotto tickets then home for Runway. Don't remember what we were talking about but I was turned slightly in the seat. Red light at Drew... the first car in line for a red light, we stopped. Hubby was facing me when we heard the boom. As he watched, my body propelled forward until my seatbelt finally pulled me back HARD against the seat. Stunned we stared at each other.... What the hell?

Suddenly there was a woman at the window... "You ok?" No, we really weren't. Both of us ...head, neck and back... plus Hubby had chest pains. Just dismissed from the hospital last week with stent #9, another heart issue was not good. The firefighters arrived first. Expertly they carefully removed us from the car. Both of us got a neck brace and were strapped onto flat boards. Hubby also got nitro and an IV, he went first. It was raining and I was soaking wet waiting in the rain to be put in the ambulance for transport.

One of the firefighters cleaned the rain from my glasses. Vitals and information taken, we arrived at the emergency room. We were immediately attended to. Sparing everyone the boring details... dozens of tests & xrays later, we were released. We called my boss (who lives close to the hospital) for a ride home.

Today we are sore... very sore. Hubby's shoulder is sprained and has torn ligaments. He also has back & neck injuries. For me it's all neck, back & hip muscle spasms and pain. We'll be fine hopefully, but my pretty little Accord will not. My lease expires in October.

Now begins the run around. Hubby picked up the car this morning from the tow company. CASH only, no we don't take AAA though it says we do on our trucks....insurance agencies both auto and health... probably attorneys... car repairs.... rentals...doctor visits... MORE expenses... Sometimes it seems like if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any! But we're alive... we didn't bleed... we had on seat belts and were not thrown out of the car. Rear ended by an SUV could have been WAY worse!

brain washing 101

Two of the unexpected, uninvited group of relatives who descended upon us this week were adorable 7 year old grand nieces. Granddaughters to my sister-in-law, they are darling well behaved children. So smart and so cute, it's a pleasure to be in their company.

They attend a "christian" school.

This evening they wanted to watch a video while the grown-ups visited. Aunt Connie made a big bowl of popcorn; poured orange juice into wine glasses for the girls and pulled out a pile of DVD's. The deal was they had to agree on one. As we sorted through my stash of movies I pulled out the Harry Potter series. Niece One said, "I love Harry Potter!" Niece Two said, I used to love Harry Potter but I am not allowed to watch it any more. I asked her why. Her reply? .... "My teacher told me it was bad to watch Harry Potter so now I am not allowed."

I asked if she was allowed to watch "The Wizard of Oz" and "Star Wars"? Apparently they are not banned. I said it is the same story, good verses evil. Well, she didn't know about that... all she knows is her teacher told her not to like Harry Potter so she doesn't.

Earlier today, they were in our car discussing when they were going home. Niece Two said she had to be home Thursday for school AND next weekend because she was going dove hunting. HUH??? Indeed, she has hew own camouflage outfit and HER OWN GUN. She's going with her Grampy and uncles out in the woods to shoot birds until they are dead. But, she's not allowed to watch Harry Potter.

Sadly, another lemming is born while the teacher mixes Kool Aid.

SURPRISE!!!!!!!!

First of all, let me just share that I hate surprises. Secondly, this has been one shitty week.

Excuse me while I whine.

Hubby hasn't been feeling well for a couple of weeks. He tires easily because of his heart disease and he's been over doing things for quite some time. Tuesday we met for lunch... he looked terrible. Just tired was his standard response. At four o'clock he called me at work and asked me to come home. He'd already taken three nitroglycerin tablets......

They took him immdeiately into the ER. All the familiar heart attack symptoms were present. Long story short, no heart attack this time but a 70% blockage in a major artery and the installation of stent #9. This is the sixth intrusion into his heart in 16 months. Two days in the hospital and home yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

At some point, one of his sisters and a niece decided they should drive from VA to FL and surprise him. WHAT? You don't surprise heart patients. But, they indeed drove straight through and were here before he was released. They were kind enough to check into a hotel but we now have company for this holiday weekend we hadn't planned on and a recuperation to begin. We went to our favorite local pub for chicken wings and called it dinner.

This evening we gathered at our house. Sister was carrying a drink when she arrived. We drove to the beach for dinner where she had two Kamikaze's. Loose lips sink ships..... under the influence she spilled the beans that there are 12 more relatives on their way here also to "surprise" us!!!

AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!

The week has left me exhausted. His relatives stress me out and what was going to be a relaxing, leisurely weekend has become a hectic event we were not counting on.

What are people thinking???
Don't answer that, I already know.
