Miss Monkey

After checking out other Sunday photos, it's clearly pet day! So, here is our Miss Monkey. Her long black tail with a crook at the end gave her that name. She's 8 months old and is cross eyed so her close up vision isn't that good. She loves to play fetch with her clump of feathers and brings it back to me every time. We must play this game twice a day.

We rescued her Christmas week and she instantly stole our hearts.

Around Tampa Bay

A few of my favorite letters to the editor appearing in the St. Petersburg Times this past week.
(The names have been omitted to protect the innocent.)

Re: Quail hunter.

"Just imagine that we once feared Gerald Ford on golf courses.

I nominate Vice President Dick Cheney to be the latest poster child for the National Rifle Association. The NRA must be proud of him."

Re: Aiming for quail.

"It used to upset me that the vice president dodged the draft during the Vietnam War with five student deferments. In view of this headline, I guess we didn't need him there after all."

(from a retired US Army sergeant major.)
Re: Aiming for quail.

"After Dick Cheney's hunting incident, I now understand why Republicans are so vehemently opposed to gun control legislation. Heck, if they can't even control their own guns, how would we expect them to control everyone else's?"

And finally... a thought of my own...

There should be a law against the President of the United States flying into a city stopping traffic during rush hour closing most of it's major through-fares. Guess who was caught up in one of those yesterday? Coming home from Daytona (and breakfast with Jeff Gordon) we managed to arrive in Orlando's traffic JUST as Dubya arrived for an appearance at Walt Disney World. (I assume to play the Goofy character for supporters.) Local authorities are not allowed to inform the public of the president's exact route for "security purposes." Oh, and so protesters don't know where to congregate as to display there displeasure of King George's rule. Is it really necessary for him to have a parade to the place? Are there no helicopters?

Just out of curiosity...

Am I the only one who sees a lot of similarities between our government and the movie THE TRUMAN SHOW?

Don't Pay the Ransom

My plan was to post a Bon Voyage note before we left on our annual cruise ....

But alas, the stars and moon alined in such a way that there was only enough time to quickly pack and get the heck out of Dodge. Now the laundry marathon begins and then off to work tomorrow... ugh. Back to reality.

I missed you all terribly and will try to catch up soon.
Meanwhile... a peek at what I had to "suffer through" all last week.
